Banned Books Week

ABOUT: Banned Books Week is the "national book community's annual celebration of the freedom to read." Launched in 1982, the week is used by booksellers, librarians, authors and readers to draw attention to the problems of censorship. According to the ALA, hundreds of books are challenged or removed from libraries every year. Participants in Banned Books Week celebrate the freedom to read by hosting events and showcasing classic books that have frequently been banned.
