The Next Chapter in Publishing - Conference Now Open for Registration

The New York Center for Independent Publishing presents "The Next Chapter in Publishing," a conference on new technologies -- specifically designed for independent publishers and authors.

The conference will be held on October 2nd, 2009, at the General Society for Mechanics and Tradesmen's historic building at 20 West 44th Street.

The publishing industry is changing to meet the needs and expectations of a tech-savvy reading public. Only by remaining fluent in these technologies will indie presses meet their potential to provide alternative voices to the public. "The Next Chapter in Publishing" will equip independent publishers and writers with the tools to navigate a new media and publishing landscape.

Programming will include:

"Introduction to eBooks," hosted by Mark Coker of Smashwords

"Blogging Basics," a panel moderated by Charlotte Abbott

"Effective Social Networking" with Karen Strauss

"Copyright in a Digital World" with Chris Kenneally of Copyright Clearance Center

Keynote speech by Richard Nash

Lunch will be provided, and a cocktail reception will follow the keynote.

Register before September 2nd for a special low rate. To find out more about us and our work, and to become a member, visit www.nycip.org.
