Book Publishing Tips of the Day

Daily words of wisdom from Tami DePalma and other publishing industry experts. Throughout the month of May we'll feature tips on taking full advantage of the BookExpo America trade show. Today's Tip from DePalma: "Give Your Media Kit Dimension."
MARKETING TIP OF THE DAY

THEME: MEDIA KIT DESIGN

Give your media kit dimension! Fold some sheets in half the long way, others in half the short way. Let them see some of each piece at one glance. On your media kit folder, place a catchy label or even your book cover to the front for a quick visual boost, and to increase your repetition factor.

Making the Most of BookExpo America 2000 - Chicago, June 1-4

"Take a Side Trip to the Printers Row Book Fair."

The 16th annual Printers Row Book Fair, the Midwest's largest outdoor book festival, transforms the historic Printers Row neighborhood into a lively celebration of the written word Saturday and Sunday, June 3 and 4. Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, a long-time supporter of the festival says, "For many years the Printers Row Book Fair has provided an opportunity for book lovers and neighbors to come together in Chicago's historic Printers Row neighborhood."

Five tented blocks brim with new, used and antiquarian books for sale by more than 170 booksellers. The six festival stages host more than 70 literary programs offering something for the whole family, including author readings and book-signings, panel discussions, non-stop poetry readings and two full days of children's activities. Live music and cooking demonstrations featuring Chicago's top chefs round out the festivities.

The 2000 Printers Row Book Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 3 and 4 and is free and open to the public. The Book Fair is located on South Dearborn between Congress and Polk in downtown Chicago. For more information, call 312-987-9896 or visit Printers Row website.
