Magazine-of-the-Month Employs ePod; Showcase to Promote Imaginative Subscription Program

Magazine-of-the-Month is a subscription sampling of 12 different magazines related to one category, such as gardening or cooking, at 50 percent off the cover price.
ePod Corporation today announced its ePod (tm) showcase is catching on with innovative retailers as a way to improve marketing and merchandising on their affiliated sites. Magazine-of-the-Month this week launched a new promotions campaign for its novel subscription using the transactional ePod advertising showcase.

Magazine-of-the-Month is a subscription sampling of 12 different magazines related to one category - such as gardening or cooking - at 50 percent off the cover price. Each month, a new magazine title arrives in subscribers' mailboxes to provide readers with news, features and editorial content from a variety of writers.

The Magazine-of-the-Month ePod(tm) showcases are two theme-based mini-Web stores placed on affiliate sites. The showcase enables potential Magazine-of-the-Month customers to browse magazine titles, register for subscriptions, and sign up for e-mail updates without leaving the affiliate sites. The ePod showcase is compatible with Magazine-of-the-Month's affiliate tracking service, and the ePod network enables Magazine-of-the Month to centrally update and maintain the showcase.

"Our product has unique features that are hard to communicate in a static banner ad," said Michael Goldstein, founder and CEO of Magazine of the Month. "The interactive ePod showcase lets people get the flavor of the Magazine-of-the-Month right there on our affiliates' sites. We have a first-of-a-kind product, and we like the wow factor of promoting it through another first-of-a-kind product - the ePod showcase."

Magazine of the Month is now offering the following ePod showcases to its affiliates:
? Cooking: Web visitors can preview 12 different culinary magazines such as Saveur, Chocolatier, La Cucina Italiana, Vegetarian Times, Wine Enthusiast, and more.
? Gardening: Web visitors can preview 12 gardening magazines such as American Gardener, Water Gardening, Flower and Garden, Organic Gardening, Herb Quarterly, and Horticulture.

"Magazine-of-the-Month has such a good idea, we are pleased to help promote it using the unique transactional capabilities of the ePod showcase," said Geoff Clendenning, CEO of ePod Corp.

Based in Manhattan, ePod Corp. is a commerce network that provides merchants and advertisers innovative services for selling their products and distributing their brand across the Web. ePod Corp. distinguishes itself with the ePod(tm) showcase, a unique vehicle for delivering an interactive experience directly to customers at the point of demand, and with the ePod.com network, a distribution channel for delivering targeted ePods through thousands of Web sites. EPod helps merchants bring the transaction closer to the customer, overcoming the diminishing effectiveness of banners and badges. This is done by allowing visitors to view and purchase products within the ePod showcase without leaving the site they are on. EPod Corp. is a venture-funded firm. Investors include I-Hatch Ventures, US Trust, and XDL Capital Corp.

Magazine-of-the-Month brings the continuity program concept to magazines, which have recently seen an explosion of new titles hitting the newsstand. With so many titles to choose from, magazine readers looking to explore a new area of interest are often overwhelmed with choices. Magazine-of-the-Month allows subscribers to sample different magazines within an area of interest at half off the newsstand price.
