New York Review of Books Resurrects Timeless Literature with NYRB Classics Series
This new series makes available to contemporary readers some of the outstanding literary achievements of the past--books that have been overlooked and out-of-print in this country for many years.
The books will be published in handsome, affordable paperback editions with introductions that have been newly commissioned from leading contemporary writers or drawn from the archives of The New York Review of Books. Embracing both fiction and non-fiction, the series will range beyond well-established classics to present a wide variety of books that retain the power to change the way we think: books that will continue to make their mark upon the world. The one thing that all these books will have in common is their outstanding quality and readability."Our bestseller so far has been My Dog Tulip by J. R. Ackerley, which recently made it on to the Book Sense 76 list," said NYRB publicist Claire Paterson. "A book that we are particularly excited about publishing in November is A Month in the Country by J.L. Carr--a beautifully readable love story endorsed by Penelope Fitzgerald." Galleys of the new title were introduced at BookExpo America.
