ePUBEXPO TO FOCUS ON STRATEGIES AND METHODS IN EPUBLISHING

Conference and Trade Exhibit Announces Keynote Speakers, Seminars and Exhibitors
ePubExpo, the new conference and trade exhibit which is being launched by Reed Exhibition Companies (REC), and which will be managed by the BookExpo America (BEA) staff, has announced keynote speakers, seminar sessions and exhibitors. The ePubExpo conference and trade show, which is devoted exclusively to the management, distribution and protection of digital print content, will focus on issues raised by new methods and procedures in ePublishing. ePubExpo is designed to attract an audience of book, magazine, journal and newspaper publishers and will be held at the Millennium Hotel, October 31 and November 1, 2000 in New York City.

ePubExpo's roster of exhibitors reflects the convention's strength and focus on the hands-on solutions management electronic publishing process. The exhibition is complemented by its quality driven conference. Among others, the participating exhibitors at ePubExpo include: Versaware, Bookface, Overdrive, Microsoft, Ebrary, Lightning Source, Everybook, and Glassbook. "BEA's recognition within the electronic publishing marketplace and our established ability to work with the publishing industry provides ePubExpo constituents -- both exhibitors and attendees alike -- with a high level of expertise, not just in the book community but in all areas of text publishing," notes Greg Topalian, Show Manager for ePubExpo and BEA.

Each day at ePubExpo will begin with several hours of conference sessions, followed by an afternoon free to attend individual exhibitor demonstrations, workshops or simply to visit exhibitors for private meetings. In addition, ePub University, a new series of courses which will be held in locations throughout the U.S. and Europe, will make its debut at ePub Expo with seminars focusing on content management techniques for publishers seeking to participate in the emerging eBook marketplace. "We have tried to organize ePubExpo so that the attendee will benefit from scheduled conference sessions, while still having the freedom to meet and talk with industry experts according to individual needs," adds Mark Dressler, an industry consultant who develops the educational seminars at BEA and has been retained by Reed Exhibitions to organize the educational program at ePubExpo. Dressler continues, "Our focus is on the ePublishing process and the many issues that are involved in this process. Everything at ePubExpo, from conference sessions to exhibitor booths, will reflect this concern."

The conference will begin with a keynote address delivered by John Kilcullen, CEO of IDG Books entitled, Toward a Consumer Driven ePublishing Model. General Sessions will cover topics such as Access the Erosion of Copyright Protection, The Economics of Pricing Digital Content, and New Partnering Strategies for the ePublishing Value Chain. Keynote speaker for Day 2 will be Neil F. Budde, publisher of Wall Street Journal Interactive, on the topic of ePublishing's New Emphasis; The Value Added Equation.
