A Message from Alberto Vitale, Chairman of the International eBook Award Foundation:

"The Frankfurt eBook Award was created by the International eBook Award Foundation to promote an increasing awareness of the vast potential and opportunity represented by eBooks. In recent weeks, as the closing date for submissions to the inaugural Frankfurt eBook Award literary competition approached, we have been gratified to note the tremendous volume and engaging diversity of eBook entries received.

The response far exceeded IeBAF expectations, overwhelming our initial projections, with submissions arriving from countries as far and wide as Australia, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, South Korea, the UK and the US. The impressive range of entries has gone to our noteworthy panels of judges for their review, and it is clear that eBook publishing is a vibrant element of communications and education worldwide.

We wish to acknowledge the many publishers who submitted eBook titles, and the authors who embarked on this new course in publishing: You have proven the format to be dynamic, engrossing, and capable of delivering all the power, insight, and satisfaction readers associate with paper book formats.

Noting the strength and vision of the entries received, we believe the Frankfurt eBook Award will take its place among the most prestigious of literary awards which recognize significant contributions to the world of letters and the richness of our international culture and heritage, as a celebration of a powerful new medium."
