The Book Report Network Launches AuthorsOnTheWeb.com
Site will feature entertaining and compelling content about authors and links to author websites.
The Book Report Network has launched AuthorsOnTheWeb.com, a new website where readers and writers can find entertaining features and the latest news about authors. In addition, AuthorsOnTheWeb.com will link visitors to author websites, including those built by TBRN's web development and marketing division."When we determined that there was a market for our website development and marketing services, we also saw a need for a new website in our Network that would focus solely on promoting authors," said Carol Fitzgerald, co-founder and president of TBRN. "On AuthorsOnTheWeb.com, readers will find entertaining and compelling content about authors and links to author websites we have built, as well as other author websites."
AuthorsOnTheWeb.com features include:
"Author of the Month": A career profile, biography, and trivia questions about a particular author, along with a message board where readers can interact. The first Author of the Month is Barbara Kingsolver, bestselling author of The Poisonwood Bible and Prodigal Summer. Beginning early in 2001, AuthorsOnTheWeb.com will feature a different author every week.
Feature Articles: Articles exploring ideas and trends of interest to readers. At launch, features included an interview with Alfred and Emily Glossbrenner, authors of About the Author, and excerpts from the book; responses from 75 authors to the question "What writers influenced you?"; and "In Memoriam," a tribute to 15 outstanding and beloved authors who died in the year 2000.
"Authors to Watch": A column that showcases debut and lesser-known authors, as well as bestselling ones. The column will note authors who are "Making a Buzz," "Who's Hot" in a particular genre, and promising "Debut Authors."
"Scuttlebutt": Personal news and little-known facts about the lives of writers.
Inside information about the book industry: News headlines from the publishing industry and selections from "Publisher's Lunch," the daily industry newsletter by Michael Cader.
Details on local and national author events: Listings of author signings and scheduled appearances on television and radio.
In January, 2001, TBRN will launch another new website, AuthorYellowPages.com, an online directory of author websites.
