A Letter From IeBAF Chairman Alberto Vitale

To our Friends in the eBook and Publishing communities:
During the past two years, the International eBook Award Foundation (IEBAF) has been dedicated to raising the profile of and spreading the word about eBooks, and we have worked closely with all of you. Regrettably, I must share some sad news.

Our IeBAF President and Executive Director, Roxanna Frost, passed away quite suddenly last week, succumbing to breast cancer at the young age of 43. Roxanna brought to the Foundation her immense knowledge, creativity, and insight. Her expansive vision and unflagging spirit proved invaluable. Without her unbelievable energy, her skillful attention to every detail, and the principled guidance she generously gave her outstanding team, the IeBAF would not exist to applaud the new medium of eBooks. We will miss her greatly.

Since the inception of the IeBAF, Serena Wastman has worked side-by-side with Roxanna and has been involved in every aspect of the Foundation's operation. Serena will continue as Director of the Foundation.

The Foundation plans to announce a memorial in Roxanna's honor in October at the 2001 Frankfurt eBook Award ceremony.

We remain grateful for the joy of knowing and working with Roxanna.

Best,

Alberto Vitale, Chairman, IeBAF
