August House: "Stories Give Us a Map to Navigate Life's Journey"

For over twenty years, August House has explored the links of the cultural web.

August House Publishers is an independent audio publisher located in Little Rock, Ark. "We are positioned philosophically and geographically between the Mississippi delta, the Ozark Mountains, and the Red River Valley. When you live at such a crossroad, you quickly learn the value of stories--how they can advance a dialogue and bridge cultural differences. Our mission is stories--especially traditional folktales, those vessels of collective wisdom that we receive from generations past. We live in an age that is not for the faint of heart: our children, especially, face a tough world and need all the resources they can get."

Audiobook News: Celebrate Black History Month With An Audiobook

APA Provides a Rich List of Titles
Every February we remember the contributions that African-Americans have made to this country in almost every imaginable field. Among those celebrated are politicians, church leaders, thinkers, inventors, artists, writers, dancers, community activists -- the list could go on and on. It is also a time to remember the struggle for freedom and equality that African-Americans have waged in this country. Testing what "America" stands for, African-Americans have had the courage to challenge prejudice and racism in the political and social system for centuries. The APA has asked audio publishers to recommend titles that reflect the spirit and essence of Black History Month. Here's what they came up with:
