Book Sense and Scholastic Team Up for HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE Promotion

Online Sweepstakes Timed for Trade Paper Release
Book Sense, the national marketing umbrella for independent bookstores, announced today that it is teaming up with Scholastic Inc. to promote the paperback release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this July. The Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Birthday Celebration! promotion will include both an in-store and online component.

"The Harry Potter books," stated Avin Mark Domnitz, chief executive officer of the American Booksellers Association, "have been the most important publishing event in my over-twenty years in the publishing business. We are very pleased to continue our involvement with Scholastic in the promotion of these fine titles."

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Birthday Celebration! sweepstakes, slated to run mid-July through mid-August, will encourage young readers to help plan a party for the fictional wizard, who celebrates his birthday on July 31. Participating Book Sense stores will feature a Scholastic-sponsored counter easel as the centerpiece of their Potter in-store display. Players will earn entries online at BookSense.com by choosing the guest list, party activities, food, presents and more. (Whom to invite to the party, Hermione Granger or Draco Malfoy? What kind of food to serve, cotton candy or boogers?) One lucky party planner will be chosen at random and awarded a Digital Camera Prize Pack, valued at $500.
