Small Press Center Launches Fifth Annual Publishing Workshop Series

How To Creatively Promote on the Internet and Jason Epstein Kick-Off Season
The fifth workshops series starts at the Small Press Center in Manhattan, this Thursday, Oct 3 at 6pm, with a panel of industry experts, who will provide tips on how to creatively promote books on the Internet, "Today's Best Book Promotion Options--Online."

This is followed next week by an "Interview with Jason Epstein" on Tuesday, October 8th, at 6pm, who will talk about his publishing classic, Book Business.

HOW TO CREATIVELY PROMOTE YOUR BOOKS ON THE INTERNET
The Small Press Center, in Manhattan, launches it fifth series of publishing workshops, with support from Publishers Weekly, on Thursday, October 3. The topic is "Today's Best Book Promotion Options--Online," which will address, among other things, how to interact with major bookselling sites and show what publishers and authors can accomplish through creative promotion on their own sites.

Online experts taking part include: Lyn Blake, v-p, Vendor Group, Amazon.com; Oliver Broudy, associate editor, The Paris Review; Anne Kinard, publishing consultant and former publisher of Lingua Franca, University Business and Granta; M.J. Rose, author of Lip Service, In Fidelity and Flesh Tones, co-author of How to Publish and Promote Online, columnist for Wired.com and contributor to many other publications. The moderator will be Richard Eoin Nash, publisher of Soft Skull Press.

The workshop will take place 6-8 p.m. at the Small Press Center, 20 W. 44th Street in midtown Manhattan. Price: Non-members $25, SPC members $15. AN INTERVIEW WITH JASON EPSTEIN
Jason Epstein, former Editorial Director of Random House and author of "Book Business: Publishing Past, Present and Future" will be interviewed by the esteemed journalist, Christopher Lehmann-Haupt, of The New York Times on Tuesday, October 8, 2002, from 6 to 7:30pm. at the Small Press Center, 20 W.44th Street in midtown Manhattan. Price: $15 for nonmembers and $10 for members. A reception will follow.
