St. Petersburg Times Festival of Reading 2003
Famous dead authors, costumed children's book characters and a host of current book authors will be featured at the 11th Annual St. Petersburg Times Festival of Reading. The free festival takes place on Sunday, November 2nd 2003, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the campus of Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, its home for the past decade.In addition to authors, celebrity readers and entertainers there will be an extensive booksellers marketplace, panel discussions, food and drink concessions, children's activities and an appearance by SPOT the Newshound, the Times' literacy mascot.
Additional details will be announced later this summer. The complete line-up of author talks, book signings, workshops and entertainers will be posted on the festival's Web site, www.festivalofreading.com and also published in the St. Petersburg Times on Thursday, October 30, 2003.
Authors appearing in recent years have included: Dave Barry, Ben Bradlee, Edna Buchanan, Art Buchwald, Fannie Flagg, Carl Hiaasen, Josephine Humphreys, Marvin Kalb, David McCullough, Robert MacNeil, Peter Matthiessen, Jack Perkins, George Plimpton, Anne Rice, Tom Robbins and Lesley Stahl.
