Subrights.com and CBE Offer Online Keys to Rights Sales

Subrights.com, the Internet's first fully integrated marketplace for the exchange of subsidiary rights to books, and the Combined Book Exhibit (CBE), organizer of collective book exhibits on behalf of publishers worldwide at over 35 fairs annually, have t
In addition to hosting book fair attendees, CBE also normally offers to display books on a per-title or per-shelf basis for non-attendees. Now the company has agreed to offer all Subrights.com clients a minimum 50% discount off single-title display rates at international book fairs.

"As the rights marketplace migrates to the Internet, this cooperation will give electronic traders the opportunity to have a book fair presence at marginal cost to them. We expect this offer to have major appeal to smaller companies that cannot afford frequent book fair visits and to large companies that, for whatever reason, might not choose to attend any given book fair," explains Subrights.com CEO Joel E. Fishman.

Jon Malinowski, President of CBE, emphasizes: "Combining a physical display with the information supplied on-line at Subrights.com is a natural way to increase the awareness of proven mid-list and back-list titles that have rights possibilities. Imagine a publisher seeing a book on display at an international fair and immediately being able access the rights profile and make an offer right then and there online. It's combining old school publishing with the virtual world of the Internet."

Adds Subrights.com's Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Jacqueline LeDonne: "An increase in the number of book fairs around the world is forcing publishers to decide between attending any given fair in person or finding other ways of marketing their rights. This alliance helps extend their options."

According to Malinowski, publishers have increasingly welcomed the opportunity to display single titles on the Combined Book Exhibit's collective stand. The opportunity is open to both foreign publishers interested in exhibiting titles at trade shows in the USA and US publishers looking for a presence in emerging markets. Either way, the Subrights.com-CBE cooperation further opens opportunities to rights sellers.

Established in 1933, CBE showcases over 20,000 titles annually for thousands of publishers of trade, library, educational and international fairs, including organizing the American Collective Stand at the Frankfurt, London and Prague Book Fairs. Providing hands-on review and information about titles and publishers has been the trademark of CBE for close to 70 years. Subrights.com made its debut at the London Book Fair.
