BookExpo America (BEA) has announced the panelists for this year’s “Editor & Bookseller Buzz” and “Generation Next” Forums:

  • David Hirshey (Senior Vice President & Executive Editor, Harper Collins)
  • Will Schwalbe (Vice President & Editor-in-Chief, Hyperion)
  • Jonathan Karp (Senior Vice President & Editor-in-Chief, Random House)
  • Nan Graham (Editor-in-Chief, Scribner)
  • Paul Slovak (Vice President & Associate Publisher, Viking)
  • Jamie Raab (Senior Vice President & Publisher, Warner Books)
  • The panel is chaired by Sara Nelson, Editor-in-Chief of Publishers Weekly and is open to all BEA badge participants at no charge. It will take place on Thursday, June 2 at 4:30pm, Room 1E15-16.

The panelists for the Generation Next panel discussion will include:

  • Liz Nagle (Associate Editor, Little, Brown & Co.)
  • Chris Jackson (Editor, Crown Publishers)
  • Lorin Stein (Editor, Farrar, Straus & Giroux)
  • Gillian Blake (Executive Editor, Bloomsbury)
  • Kate Travers (Editor, HarperCollins)
  • The panel will be moderated by Steve Zeitchik, News Editor of Publishers Weekly and is open to all BEA badge participants at no charge. It will take place on Friday, June 3 at 2:00pm, Room 1E4.

According to BEA organizers, the Editor & Bookseller Buzz Forum and Generation Next are only two of the most noteworthy panels in a broader program designed to bring attention to and stimulate discussion among the nation’s leading book editors. The editorial process, which is shaped and defined as much by the job as by the personalities who carry it out, is the most critical -- and the most puzzling -- part of the publishing business.

Other panels which will examine the editorial process include:

  • Capturing the Elusive 18 to 34 Year Old Reader: Editors Sound-off, Thursday, June 2 at 11am, Room 1E4
  • Mind Body Spirit Publishing: What the Editors are Buying Today, Friday, June 3 at 11am, Room 1E2
  • Mystery & Suspense Editors Buzz Forum, Saturday, June 4 at 1pm, Room 1E4.
